PAINTINGS

"RED HEAT"

This was my first ever airbrush painting... Though not a lot of people in India employ this technique, I decided to try my hand at airbrush-painting, because airbrush effects, in my opinion, know no bounds! There are endless possibilities with which you can manipulate an airbrush painting to achieve the desired effect, such as 3D effects, which is why I ventured in the airbrush field. I chose to paint a horse, because I've always been told by numerous people, that getting the features of a horse right is one of the most difficult things to do - It sounded like a good enough challenge, and since then I've always strived to perfect my skills with the aid of horse paintings.

"STEP-BY-STEP"

Another step in my early artistic career in my efforts to achieve realistic effects.

"TO KNOW A WOMAN"

This painting was my attempt at capturing the emotion of the Indian woman, or any woman being surpressed in today's world, for that matter. If looked at closely, she appears to be smiling, yet there appear to be telltale signs of pain behind it - a facet that she can't, or won't, tell the world of.

"FEAR"

There could be, in my opinion, two ways of looking at this painting - Either you'd notice traces of fear in the eye of the subject, if your conscience is clear... Or, if one's conscience is heavily burdened, if looked closely at the painting, the subject seems to hold an almost penetrating, accusing characteristic. This dual allusion, in many instances, applies to life in general as well.
I named this painting "Fear"... Though the question really is, is it the fear of the victim, or the fear of discovery on the part of the victimizer? The answer to the truth in the eyes of the subject, lies solely in the eyes of the beholder.

"STANDING TALL"

Ever since I was told that painting the features of a horse perfectly is said to be one of the most challenging feats in painting, I've always been "chasing horses", striving to achieve their features to perfection. From "Red Heat" to "Standing Tall", this is where I stand now in my artistic journey.
The subject of the painting is a beautiful black stallion, alpha-male of his herd, on a full moon night. Horses, of course, cannot see well at night, but being the head of his herd, the stallion in question must look fear in the eye, to protect his herd, come what may.

"ANGRY DRAGON"

"Angry Dragon" is just a painting I worked on because I felt like I was losing touch, having been busy with other obligations. Its the intensity of the scales on the dragon that made me want to paint this - Every scale on the back has been individually done.

 "TRANSFORMATION"

Inspired by the movie "Underworld", I approached the werewolf transformation with a real-life stance - the idea was to portray how a man can morph into an animal when his temper gives way. Every human has his/her own issues, but the way with which you deal with those issues, is what sets you apart from the animals, and makes you who you are. This painting and the whole concept behind it actually helped calm me down during troubled times, and I look to it till today, when faced with dire situations.

"NIGHT MARE"

There are two sides to a horse - this painting depicts its less attractive elements. Yes, a horse can be your ever-dependable best friend, but there does happen to be another side to a horse's nature - the dangerous and night"mare"ish aspects.

"PRIDE OF THE PREDATOR"

This painting was inspired by the immense pride that this predator encompasses, and the way with which it locks sight on its prey, without being troubled about the trials that may come its way while claiming its prey - its prey is its prize, and nothing can seem to bruise an eagle's pride.
